Life’s GPS

Many people know what a GPS is in your car or on your phone. You can input where you want to go and through satellite technology your GPS system will guide you where you want to go. The only requirement is that you must follow the directions it gives you. If your GPS instructs you to turn left in a quarter mile you must turn left. If it tells you to turn left and you go straight or turn right it corrects your map and gets you back on track again. If you miss your turn a familiar voice will gently tell you, “recalculating”. Recalculating what you need to do now to get back on course.

What a GPS doesn’t do is chastise you, get irritated with you or tell you its hopeless now. It does not tell you that you messed up and now you can’t get where you are going. It gently tells you “recalculating”, to get you back on course.

Much like our relationship with God. In God’s plan, GPS is always (Gods Plan of Salvation). When you make a wrong turn in life God is always willing to “recalculate” to get you back on course again. God never tells us we cannot turn our life around. 2 Peter 3:9 (MSG) – “Don’t overlook the obvious here, friends. With God, one day is as good as a thousand years, a thousand years as a day. God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.”

Gods, “GPS” always has a plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 (TLB) vs. 11 For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. God will get you there even when you make a wrong turn in your life, your family, your work. God has a plan for you. It may take a different journey with a course correction, but Gods plan is to get your there.

The other option is to turn off the GPS in your car. If you turn it off you will struggle finding your way. Years ago, I was traveling with my family to a location far away from home. I remember stopping and asking someone the way to where I was going. In his effort to help me he gave me the wrong directions or I did not understand him. I travelled miles out of my way to reach my goal. If you don’t use Gods, GPS you can get all sorts of input that will take you the wrong direction.

As a counselor I get people from time to time for marriage counseling that tell me they talked with a counselor that told them to basically cut their loses and divorce. Their hearts tell them to work it out but the instructions they got was telling them they could not get to where they were going and give up. God’s GPS will never give up no matter how hard the struggle is. No matter how many times you need to “recalculate” God will get you there. Lets talk!
